Jemma & Steve at The Haycock Hotel

On Sunday May 6th I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Jemma & Steve at The Haycock Hotel in wansford.  I was delighted when Jemma & Steve asked me to photograph their wedding.  I’d shot Jemma’s brother’s wedding (Daniel & Lauren) in August 2016 and I knew what a great bunch they all were.  The wedding was going to be great fun to be a part of.  And it sure was. The morning started in the bridal suite with the bride and an excited bunch of bridesmaids.  Meanwhile Steve and the groomsmen met my second Vaida in the Read More

Jess & Soha at Orton Hall Hotel

On Saturday 5th May I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Jess and Soha at Orton Hall Hotel in Peterborough.  Some serious mileage was clocked up for this big day.  With Jess’ family coming from Peru and Scotland and Soha’s dad making the trip from Korea it was a truly global event.  The couple themselves live up the road in central Peterborough and I was delighted when they chose me to photography their wedding.  I’ve shot many at Orton Hall and it’s always a venue I look forward to going back to.   The day was really relaxed Read More

Abi & Kevin at The Old Hall

On Sunday April 29th I had the honour of shooting the wedding of Abi & Kevin at The Old Hall near Ely. I loved shooting Abi & Kevin’s big day.  Such a lovely couple, who were joined by a great group of friends and family.  I think Abi was a little nervous about the day to come but as Alison did her make-up she did her best to hide it.  It helped that the bride-to-be was joined by a fun bunch of bridesmaids who provided plenty of laughs to help keep Abi calm.  While the girls were getting ready my Read More

Becky & Martin at The Old Hall Ely.

On Easter Monday I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Becky & Martin at The Old Hall Ely. Driving over to Ely on the morning of the wedding I feared the worst.  Two days previously I’d shot a wedding where it had rained pretty much all day.  And the forecast hadn’t changed much.  With the beautiful lakes and grounds at The Old Hall I would have felt awful if we couldn’t get some snaps outdoors.  Thankfully, when it mattered the rain stopped and we got the shots outside we wanted.  Sure it was muddy, but if the bride Read More

Donna & Chris at Minstrel Court

On Sunday March 25th I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Donna & Chris at Minstrel Court near Royston.  I first met Chris and his mum Gill when they came along to one of my teaching workshops.  Both very keen photographers, I was delighted when Chris asked me to photograph his wedding.  I’ve shoot the weddings of several photographers over the years and for some reason I always feel that teeny bit more pressure! The day itself was a beautiful spring day, with the seasonal daffodils lining the lake and all around the grounds.    I was impressed Read More

Kelly & Sabrina Cambridge wedding

On Friday March 23rd I had the pleasure of photographing Kelly & Sabrina’s wedding in Cambridge. I’m sure I’ve said it before but these two are clearly crazy about each other.  And being a part of their day was a huge honour.   The day started at Shire Hall in Cambridge where I met Kelly and her family waiting for Sabrina and her folks.  Sabrina’s mum and dad had made the trip from Canada for the big day and, after a long journey, suddenly the moment had come when the girls would tie the knot.  Sabrina couldn’t hold back the Read More

Chelsea & Scott

On Saturday 17th March I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Chelsea & Scott. A wonderful day with a really lovely couple.  One of the colder weddings I’ve photographed with a biting wind that ensured most of the day was spent indoors.  But it did nothing to spoil such a lovely occasion as Chelsea and Scott tied the knot at St John’s church in March.   And the church made the perfect setting for not only the service but for the family photos and couple pictures too.  Chelsea was a great sport though and braved the cold to get Read More

Victoria & Andrew at Stoke Rochford Hall

On Saturday 3rd February 2018 I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Victoria and Andrew at Stoke Rochford Hall near Grantham. Gin. I’ll remember this wedding as the “gin wedding”.  There were empty bottles everywhere.  Ornately decorated of course with fairy lights and used to decorate the venue and even identify the different table names for the wedding breakfast.   I never did get round to asking Victoria if all the empty bottles had come from her own drinks cabinet.  I suspect she may have borrowed a few. Gin aside it was an amazing wedding to photograph at Read More

2017 – a few favourites

I’ve never blogged a selection of pictures from any given year before, so  I thought it’s about time I did! For this reflection on 2017 I wanted to choose one or two pictures from each wedding but with a very specific intention.  I wanted to choose the images that I liked best from the reportage side of my work.  So in the main these images are very natural, candid moments that have moved me in one way or another.  From tears to laughter and moments where I look back and simply think “I’m glad I was there at that moment Read More

Jemma & Adam at the William Cecil

On Saturday January 6th I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Jemma & Adam at the William Cecil in Stamford. The first wedding of 2018!  And what a great start to the year.  Jemma & Adam are a lovely couple and with the kids (Roxie & John) make a wonderful family.  I’d got to know them for their pre-wedding shoot just before Christmas and was looking forward to seeing them all again for the big day. The William Cecil makes the ideal setting for a wedding and that’s where I found the bride-to-be and her bridesmaids.  While I Read More
