On Sunday April 29th I had the honour of shooting the wedding of Abi & Kevin at The Old Hall near Ely.
I loved shooting Abi & Kevin’s big day. Such a lovely couple, who were joined by a great group of friends and family. I think Abi was a little nervous about the day to come but as Alison did her make-up she did her best to hide it. It helped that the bride-to-be was joined by a fun bunch of bridesmaids who provided plenty of laughs to help keep Abi calm. While the girls were getting ready my second photographer Vaida met up with Kevin and the boys. I think Kevin was the more nervous of the two but you wouldn’t know if from the pictures – great job Kevin!
The weather in April is always unpredictable and the chilly conditions meant the ceremony would be indoors. But it didn’t stop it being a lovely service, full of emotion, laughter and special moments as Abi & Kevin became husband and wife. I wasn’t surprised to see everyone stay in the bar after the service, it was certainly the warmer option. But Abi was keen to have the family photos outside so my popularity plummeted as I ushered everyone outside! But I’m glad we made that choice, the grounds are beautiful, especially with the magnificent Cathedral in the background.
Back indoors and the wedding breakfast concluded with some excellent speeches. I liked Kevin’s speech as it revealed while there were ‘plenty of fish’ in the favours. Kevin’s brother Alex was the best-man and his speech had me in stitches. Both Abi & Kevin seemed to spend much of the speech with their head in their hands!
For me the day ended on the dance floor as is often the case, the end of another fabulous wedding which had been an honour to be a part of. Wishing Abi & Kevin all the very best for the future. Here’s a small selection of pictures from the the day……
