On Friday 5th May I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Charlie & Shaun at Hothorpe Hall in Leicestershire.
I first met Charlie at a wedding last year. As a wedding hair-stylist she was doing the hair at a wedding I was shooting. After that she decided she wanted me to shoot her big day and after meeting Shaun and the boys it was decided I was the man for the job.
And what a job it was! A woodland wedding set in fabulous rural location with a great bunch of people, I couldn’t wait to get snapping. Charlie and the girls got ready at the venue just a short walk from the main function room. Meanwhile Shaun, and the boys got ready at the couple’s home in Peterborough. Charlie treated her cycling-mad future husband to a brand new bike as a wedding present and Shaun had treated Charlie to an ultra-cool pair of personalised Ray-Bans!
After the ceremony the rest of the day was a very relaxed and fun occasion on one of the nicest days of 2017 so far. There was loads of time for family photos, drinks, and mingling before everyone was seated for the wedding breakfast.
After some great speeches Charlie & Shaun joined me for some pictures. We got to use the tree-house and then took a short drive to Foxton Locks, a great location the couple had discovered previously.
Once we got back to the venue the evening guests were starting to arrive. One very special guest was Charlie’s friend – a professional fire breather. Watching her perform was an amazing spectacle and something I’d never seen at a wedding before.
For me the day finished watching an alternative to the traditional first dance. Instead of dancing with her husband, Charlie danced with the children while Shaun sang and played guitar. Brilliant! The band took over for the rest of the evening and a fantastic day was nearly over.
Wishing Charlie, Shaun and the boys all the very best for the future. Here’s a small selection from their amazing wedding……
