On Saturday April 15th I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Gemma & Tom at Hedingham Castle in Essex.
A wonderful couple, a fab venue and Star Wars! The recipe for an awesome day if ever there was one. The tables were named after Star Wars Characters, Darth Vader adorned the cake, a storm trooper was in charge of the sweets , R2 D2 looked after the rings and the groomsmen wore Star Wars cufflinks and socks. There was also an Easter theme with it being Easter Saturday. There was an Easter Egg hunt for the guests to enjoy with free drinks as prizes. I found one myself but I thought I better put it back and get on with my job!
I’d never shot a wedding at Hedingham Castle before so I was excited to shoot at a new venue. I met Gemma, her mum and the bridesmaids in one of the cottages that forms part of the estate. Meanwhile my second photographer Vaida caught up with Tom and the boys in one of the other cottages just down the lane. Once everyone was ready it was a short drive (the boys walked) to the 900 year old keep where the service would take place.
It was a lovely service in a very unique location. You could just imagine Game of Thrones being filmed in this spectacular setting. Afterwards everyone headed outside into the glorious spring sunshine for drinks, pictures, confetti throwing and plenty of laughs and giggles. Gemma and Tom joined me for some pictures around the grounds and then joined their guests in the marquee for the wedding breakfast.
Gemma & Tom’s wedding was a lovely, relaxed occasion with a fantastic group of family and friends. The newlyweds were great fun and it was an honour to be a part of their big day. I hope this small selection of pictures will go some way to telling the story of the day. Wishing Gemma and Tom all the best for the future in a galaxy far, far away……..(sorry!).
