On Saturday 2nd April I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Heather & Michael at The Old Hall near Ely.
This was another lovely wedding to shoot, with a great couple and their fabulous family and friends. In the morning of the big day I met up with Heather, her three bridesmaids and mega cute flower girl at Heather’s parent’s house in the village of Bluntisham. The girls were great fun and if Heather was nervous she didn’t show it. While I was with the girls my second photographer, Paul met Mike and the groomsmen at the couple’s house in Somersham.
The wedding took place at Bluntisham Baptist Church. And what an awesome occasion it was, really upbeat with a great band, plenty of hymns and readings from friends and family. After the service there was time for tea and cakes before I shot one of the largest group photos I’ve ever taken. Thankfully Heather’s dad had arranged for an extra-tall step ladder to be on hand and once again I found myself balanced perilously at the top in order to “get the shot”.
The rest of the day was spent at The Old Hall near Ely. A venue I’ve shot at many times before and one that’s always great for pictures. As always much of the day was shot in a reportage style and it was great to take so many candid moments of a really relaxed and happy occasion. The wedding breakfast gave Paul and I a chance to catch our breath. It concluded with the traditional speeches and the best man (Brett) gave one of the funniest speeches I’ve heard. If I said it was slightly risqué that would probably be an understatement but I think he just about got away with it.
Sadly the rain came at the wrong time but I was delighted when Heather and Mike said they were happy to go down to the lakes for a couple of pictures. It wasn’t the classic sun-set shot but I think it worked all the same. And with that it was time for cake cutting and the first dance. The end of another great wedding and one I was honoured to be a part of.
Best wishes to Heather and Mike for the future as husband and wife. I hope you enjoy this small selection of pictures from the day….
