On Saturday 16th April 2016 I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Jo & Matt at The Old Bridge Hotel.
Anyone who’s ever read my blogs before will know that the I’m always on about the weather. It’s never right of course, too wet, too windy, too bright, too dull, too hot, too cold. You name it, I’ll moan about it. And Jo & Matt’s wedding was one of those where I had my eye on the forecast constantly before the big day. And the forecast wasn’t good. Pretty much rain all day. Thanks Mother Nature!
But despite the weather, I found Jo and her bridesmaids in great spirits when I met up with them on the morning of the wedding. The girls were great fun and I really enjoyed photographing the pre-wedding excitement. While I was with the girls my second-photographer (Liz) met Matt and his groomsmen in the Green Man pub in the village of Colne where the service would take place.
Once the girls were ready it was off to the church. Jo travelled in style in a Bentley that a family friend had offered them for the day. It was wet and not the time to be posing for pictures outside the church door so as soon as she arrived it was straight into church to meet her future husband. It was a great service with a lovely lady vicar who let me do my thing. She didn’t seem to mind when Mr Clumsy (me) knocked over part of the fixtures and fittings, totally disturbing the proceedings and causing the congregation to burst into laughter!
The sun came out for the newlyweds as the service finished but before long the heavens opened and it was time to head to The Old Bridge Hotel in Huntingdon for the remainder of the day. And with that I had no more weather problems to worry about. The day stayed mostly dry and at times the sun shone beautifully. So we were able to take plenty of pictures in the hotel grounds and after the wedding breakfast the couple joined my by the river for a few more pictures. I was so pleased to get a few shots with a beautiful blue sky for them.
Jo and Matt really are a lovely couple and I was very honoured to shoot their big day. As I type this we’ve had a day of snow, hail and rain while the happy couple relax in sunnier climes. Sorry, that was more reference to the weather!
Wishing Jo & Matt all the very best for the future as husband and wife. I hope you enjoy this small selection of pictures from an awesome day……
