On Saturday 29th July I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Kara & Lee.
Kara, Lee and little Joshua are a lovely family and they’d book me to shoot their big day nearly two years before when Joshua was just a small baby. Now a big boy he was all ready to lead his mum down the aisle.
Kara and the girls got ready at the family home while Lee and the groomsmen spent the morning at mum’s house. The girls travelled in style, a beautiful horse drawn carriage which made the short trip to St Wendreda’s church in March.
It was a beautiful service. Any nerves or anxiety Kara had been feeling back home instantly evaporated as soon as she saw Lee standing at the top of the aisle. Joshua entertained us all as he joined in. I thought it was hilarious when he pulled up his own little stool to sit at dads feet.
After the service there was time for family photos at the church and then Kara, Lee and Joshua stayed behind to make the most of this beautiful church. It was good fun and I could tell the newlyweds enjoyed the opportunity to spend some time together (albeit with me and my second Paul snapping away).
The rest of the celebrations took place at Doddington village hall. The highlight for me had to be the singing waiter. I knew he was there but Kara had kept it a secret so it was fantastic to see everyone’s reaction when this regular looking waiter suddenly revealed his alter-ego. A brilliant entertainer he had the audience singing along, standing on chairs and doing the conga. Fantastic!
For me the day ended with the first-dance and I left with the disco in full swing. It had been a lovely day and an honour to be a part of. Wishing Kara & Lee all the very best for the future as husband and wife.
