On Thursday 27th August I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Kirsty & Matthew at Whaplode Manor.
Simply put, Kirsty, Matthew (Math), Lewis and Ruby are one of the loveliest families I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. Loving parents and two great kids, what more could you ask for in life. And their family and friends were equally great and were clearly thrilled to see the newlyweds tie the knot after being together for so many years.
Kirsty got ready at home with the bridesmaids, mum and daughter Ruby. Football loving ruby was never going for the traditional “pretty little dress” and instead rocked the most amazing suit you ever saw! The big girls did indeed wear pretty little dresses and the bride looked amazing in her champagne gown. Meanwhile Math and Lewis got ready at Math’s parents. I thought it was wonderful that Math’s dad was also his best man. They were like two peas in a pod with an equally wacky sense of humour.
After the service at Wisbech St Mary’s church it was off to Whaplode Manor for the rest f the celebrations. I’d never shot a wedding at this venue before (although I’d done a recce the day before) so I was excited to be going somewhere new. It’s a lovely 19th century barn with a picturesque courtyard and surrounded by the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. I figured I could probably manage one or two decent shots here. I could tell that Kirsty had put a lot of thought into the little details of the day. The venue looked beautiful with lots of little touches, including her own photo booth she had made herself!
The weather was kind so everyone got out in the courtyard for drinks and photos. After the wedding breakfast I took the couple off for some photos, “borrowing” a local corn field to get some dramatic images. Before I knew it it was time for cake cutting and the first dance. I thought it was great to see Lewis and Ruby join mum and dad on the dance floor. And with that my day was over, it had been a fantastic occasion and an honour to be a part of. Wishing Kirsty, Math, Lewis and Ruby all the very best for the future. I hope you enjoy this small selection of pictures from your special day…..
