On Friday July 28th I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Sarah & Steven at Stoke Rochford Hall near Grantham.
When I arrived at Stoke Rochford Hall on the morning of the wedding I found Steven showing his friends his brand new motor cross bike that he’d treated himself too. I knew that both him and his number one fan (Sarah) would get a lot of joy out of the bike as he would be allowed to ride again after the wedding. He’d refrained from riding before the wedding as he wanted to avoid being in a plaster cast on his big day! There was also another little treat flying around in the sky and this one really appealed to my inner geek – a drone! Steven had bought a great little drone to record the wedding and honeymoon. It was brilliant and now I’d like one too!!
So the day started with treats and goodies and it didn’t stop there. Sarah had a new pair of her favourite riding boots and lots of new jewellery from her husband-to-be. It was great fun watching the bridesmaids present her gifts. And the girls also had an errand to run, taking some presents to Steven. He got some lovely gifts including a watch and cufflinks, but I think his favourite gift was a photo album which left his pulse racing!
The service took place in the beautiful orangery and then there was plenty of time for mingling, drinks and family photos before the wedding breakfast. Sarah’s dad (Cliff) had lovingly restored his vintage Land Rover especially for the big day. It hadn’t started for over 10 years so getting it back on the road had been a real about of love for him. And I was determined to get some shots with the newlyweds and the car for both Cliff and them. BUT, by now it had started to rain and the planned photo shoot after the meal was looking iffy. So, I was delighted to see Sarah don her new boots, grab an umbrella and jump in the back of the Land Rover to head off for pictures. It was great fun and whilst I got soaked, both me and my Nikons can handle the wet weather.
After a brilliant rehearsed first-dance the day ended with sparklers and an amazing fireworks display, which is always fun to shoot. It had been a great day with a lovely couple and a fun bunch of friends and family. Wishing Sarah and Steven all the very best for the future as husband and wife. I hope you enjoy this small selection of pictures from the day….
