Becky & Martin at The Old Hall Ely.

On Easter Monday I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Becky & Martin at The Old Hall Ely. Driving over to Ely on the morning of the wedding I feared the worst.  Two days previously I’d shot a wedding where it had rained pretty much all day.  And the forecast hadn’t changed much.  With the beautiful lakes and grounds at The Old Hall I would have felt awful if we couldn’t get some snaps outdoors.  Thankfully, when it mattered the rain stopped and we got the shots outside we wanted.  Sure it was muddy, but if the bride Read More

Donna & Chris at Minstrel Court

On Sunday March 25th I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Donna & Chris at Minstrel Court near Royston.  I first met Chris and his mum Gill when they came along to one of my teaching workshops.  Both very keen photographers, I was delighted when Chris asked me to photograph his wedding.  I’ve shoot the weddings of several photographers over the years and for some reason I always feel that teeny bit more pressure! The day itself was a beautiful spring day, with the seasonal daffodils lining the lake and all around the grounds.    I was impressed Read More

Kelly & Sabrina Cambridge wedding

On Friday March 23rd I had the pleasure of photographing Kelly & Sabrina’s wedding in Cambridge. I’m sure I’ve said it before but these two are clearly crazy about each other.  And being a part of their day was a huge honour.   The day started at Shire Hall in Cambridge where I met Kelly and her family waiting for Sabrina and her folks.  Sabrina’s mum and dad had made the trip from Canada for the big day and, after a long journey, suddenly the moment had come when the girls would tie the knot.  Sabrina couldn’t hold back the Read More

Chelsea & Scott

On Saturday 17th March I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Chelsea & Scott. A wonderful day with a really lovely couple.  One of the colder weddings I’ve photographed with a biting wind that ensured most of the day was spent indoors.  But it did nothing to spoil such a lovely occasion as Chelsea and Scott tied the knot at St John’s church in March.   And the church made the perfect setting for not only the service but for the family photos and couple pictures too.  Chelsea was a great sport though and braved the cold to get Read More

2017 – a few favourites

I’ve never blogged a selection of pictures from any given year before, so  I thought it’s about time I did! For this reflection on 2017 I wanted to choose one or two pictures from each wedding but with a very specific intention.  I wanted to choose the images that I liked best from the reportage side of my work.  So in the main these images are very natural, candid moments that have moved me in one way or another.  From tears to laughter and moments where I look back and simply think “I’m glad I was there at that moment Read More

Diva & Jamie at South Farm

On Sunday 5th November I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Diva & Jamie at South Farm near Royston. If I ever suffer a power-cut there is one person I would put at the top of my list of people to call – Diva.  She would light up any room instantly.  A lady with a very special personality.  Kind, funny and caring, it’s no surprise she works as a nurse.  And I’m not the first to notice, Jamie (a top bloke too by the way) clearly thinks so too, as does his dad who echoed similar thoughts during Read More

Georgie & Sarah at the Cliff at Lyons Hotel

On Wednesday October 25th I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Georgie & Sarah at the Cliff at Lyons Hotel near Dublin. The last time I shot a wedding abroad was back in the summer of 2010.  Seven years later and I’ll have done two in a month!  The first was Georgie & Sarah’s big day in Ireland.  I’d actually met them at a wedding fair near Grantham last year and they decided then that I was the man for the job. The girls couldn’t have been any nicer.  In the lead up to the wedding they made Read More

Debbie & Andrew at Orton Hall Hotel

On Saturday October 14th I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Debbie & Andrew at Orton Hall Hotel in Peterborough. Until she booked me to shoot her wedding, the last time I had seen Debbie was when she was still at school, helping out at her dad’s barbers shop where I would always go for a trim.  That was over 25 years ago!   I knew Andrew too.  He was the year above me at school and in a small fenland town you’d always see familiar faces out and about.  Andrew was (and still is) a keen footballer Read More

Rebecca & Euan & Slepe Hall

On Saturday 23rd September I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Rebeca & Euan at Slepe Hall in St Ives. Rebecca is the niece of my good friend (and “Wonder-Florist) Corinne Turner.  So I was thrilled when Corinne recommended me as the man for the job of shooting Rebecca & Euan’s big day.  I got to know them better at their pre-wedding shoot in their home town of Lincoln and couldn’t wait for the big day to arrive. I met up with an excited bride and equally excited bridesmaids at Rebecca’s mum’s house in March, conveniently less than Read More

Katherine & Luke

On Saturday 9th September I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Katherine and Luke. As a wedding photographer it’s hard not to become obsessed with the weather forecast.  The threat of rain was on my mind and I knew how important it was to Katherine that I was able to get them outside for photos.  So after the girls were all ready, we headed off to St Leonard’s church in Leverington to meet Luke and the boys ready for the service.  And as I feared the heavens opened.  Katherine dashed from the car to the church as the Read More
