On Sunday 30th April I had the honour of shooting the wedding of Yumi & Tom at Longstowe Hall.
Wow, what a wedding! A lovely couple, a great venue and fabulous friends and family from far and wide. Yumi and Tom live not far from me in Peterborough and yet their relationship began in Japan where Tom met his wife-to-be while he was working there. Now living back in the UK, the couple chose the magnificent Longstowe Hall near Cambridge for their dig day.
I met Yumi as she arrived at the venue with her bridesmaid and closest friends. Yumi’s friends had come over from Japan for the the wedding and thankfully their English was better than my Japanese. I struggled to pronounce the bridesmaid’s name so for the rest of the day she was renamed Nikita, much to the hilarity of all concerned! The girls were great fun and I could tell they were really enjoying the “getting-ready” part of the day. While I was with the girls my second Paul met Tom and the groomsmen at a nearby hotel.
The service took place outdoors which was brilliant for the photos. I’d shot at Longstowe before but had never managed to get outdoors due to the weather. At last I could shoot the proceedings as the couple said their vows on the island in the lake!
After the ceremony the couple enjoyed the rest of the day mingling with their guests around the grounds of the venue. I loved shooting lots of great moments in a reportage style along with some family photos and a session with the couple around the gardens.
After the wedding breakfast and some great speeches from the father-of-the-bride, the groom and best man it was time for LOTS of dancing for the rest of the evening. A fantastic band (The kicks) played a great set and the floor was full of dancing, laughter and the odd Jägerbomb. A brilliant night and a great finish to a lovely day.
Wishing Yumi & Tom all the best for the future. I hope you enjoy this selection of pictures from the day……
