On Saturday 7th July I had the honour of photographing the wedding of Bethan & Tom at Irnham Hall near Grantham.
I think Bethan felt a bit cursed when her wedding day fell on the same day as England’s world-cup quarter final against Sweden. After all, she booked her wedding first! Come 4pm and there was the odd mobile phone tuned into the match but the day was such a lovely, fun and happy occasion that I don’t think people were particularly bothered about the game. And besides, since then England have lost the semi-final, France won the cup and the world has gone back to normal.
This was the second wedding I’d shot at Irnham Hall (the first was just two weeks before!) and once again it was an amazing wedding to be a part of. This time Bethan and Tom chose to marry in the church that shares the grounds with the Hall. But before I got to Irnham I went to meet Bethan and the girls at Allington Manor where they were getting ready. They were all great fun and clearly excited about the day to come. While I was with the girls Paul, my second photographer met up with Tom and the groomsmen in the centre of Grantham.
After the formalities of a lovely church service the rest of the day was a really relaxed occasion, celebrated in the best of the English summer sunshine. I love days like these as it gives me plenty of opportunity to wander round taking lots of natural snaps of people enjoying themselves. Bethan and Tom joined Paul and I for some pictures after the speeches. By then the sun had started to fall a little and the light was great. The couple were great in front of the camera, despite the two best-men trying to kill the groom with a lethal cocktail that formed part of their speech!
The day ended on the dance floor, and it rocked! The end of an awesome day with a lovely couple and a great bunch of friends and family. Wishing Bethan & Tom all the very best for the future. I hope you enjoy this selection of pictures from an amazing day….
