On Saturday 7th July I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Charlene & Billy at Lakeside Lodge in Pidley.
As soon as I photographed Charlene & Billy running through the sea at Old Hunstanton at their pre-wedding shoot, I knew their wedding day would be a joy to photograph. And it was!
The day started and finished at Lakeside Lodge golf course in Pidley. It’s a great venue which I’ve been to a few times over the years as a photographer. And lots of times in my golfing days. On a beautiful sunny day (as this day was) it’s great to take the couple for some golden hour snaps around the course. But on this occasion the best spot was elsewhere…..
As I drove to the wedding (and in particular to do a recce at All Saints church on the edge of the village) I spotted a corn field. I’m always looking for them in early summer, but some stand out more than others. And this was THE corn field!! So when Charlene & Billy agreed to go there after the service I was thrilled, especially as the lady driving the vintage VW Beetle was also happy to go along with the plan. It was great fun and produced some pictures that I think the newly-weds will like.
Once back to the venue and the fun didn’t stop. The singing waiters were fantastic – it was great to see everyone up out of their chairs, dancing and doing the conga. It was a blast to see everyone enjoying themselves so much. And then outside for smoke-bombs, which I absolutely love photographing!
Charlene and Billy were a joy to photograph on their special day. They smiled and laughed their way through the whole day (Billy’s tears during the service aside!). They went along with all my crazy plans and even involved me in theirs – their grand reveal that they are expecting a baby! I took a few secret pictures for them while out on the golf course and then they told everyone during their first dance! It was lovely to see the reactions of family and friends when they realised what Charlene was holding behind Billy’s back as they danced.
Wishing the new Mr & Mrs Bond all the very best for the future as husband and wife. With their three wonderful daughters (and a baby on the way) they are a lovely family and a pleasure to be around. I hope these snaps help tell the story of such a fabulous, joy-filled day….
