On Saturday 4th May I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Vicky & Chris at Bedford Lodge in Newmarket
I first met Vicky when I photographed her sister Penny’s wedding to Andy back in 2015. In fact it was at Penny’s wedding that Vicky & Chris first got together! Fast forward a few years and it was great to catch up with familiar faces, and see the new additions to the family too.
For me the day started in Waterbeach at the family home where Vicky and the girls were getting ready for the big day. Meanwhile my second Paul met up with Chris and his brother/best-man Peter at the Baptist church in Histon.
The ceremony was a lovely occasion, and it was great to see the three daughters Jodie, Ellie and Rebecca (AKA Boo) playing a part. Although I’m not quite sure what part Boo was playing. She was ad-libbing in her own special way.
At some point during the ceremony I must have nodded off because one minute the couple were exchanging their vows and the next minute they were on the stage playing hockey with a lemon. Something to do with marriage being all about teamwork I think.
The rest of the day took place at Before Lodge in Newmarket. I’d never photographed a wedding there before so it was exciting to be going somewhere new. It’s a beautiful venue with some great spots for pictures. Thankfully the weather improved as the day went on too. When we left church the conditions were awful – windy, cold and a real threat of rain. But later on the clouds disappeared, the wind dropped and the sun came out – perfect!
It was a huge honour to be a part of Vicky & Chris’ big day. Wishing them and the girls all the very best for the future….
