Harriet & Mike’s winter wedding

On Wednesday 30th December I had the honour of photographing the wedding of Harriet & Mike in village of Brewood in Staffordshire.

Well 2020 didn’t go to plan. Of the 40+ weddings I was originally booked to photograph in 2020, only 9 actually took place, with the vast majority postponing to 2021 and even 2022. Corona Virus has a lot to answer for and I’m sure 2020 will be a year we’ll never forget.

Among all the misery and disappointment a few lucky couples still did get to tie the knot, albeit not in the style they originally envisioned. Harriet and Mike were due to marry in April 2020, just a few days after the country was put into the first lockdown. Not to be dissuaded they were determined to get married as and when they could, and after a few changes of plan and at least two more date changes their determination paid off. And on December 30th they got to say “I do”.

I’ve always said how lovely a Christmas wedding is and the snowy conditions were the icing on the cake. So whilst the original spring wedding didn’t happen Harriet and Mike got to have a beautiful winter wedding instead. Despite there being far fewer guests than there should have been this was a lovely intimate occasion still incredibly special. And in 2022 they will get to have another celebration with all the folks that should have been there on the first “I do” day. And I can’t wait too photograph that day too.

Harriet and Mike are a lovely couple and it was an honour to be there to record their special day. Wishing them all the best for the future as husband and wife. And looking forward to better days ahead and seeing them again for Harriet & Mike’s wedding part 2 in 2022!
