On Saturday 19th May I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Lauren & Tom at The Old Hall near Ely.
Most of the country will remember May 19th 2018 for a royal wedding. But for those of us fortunate enough to be at The Old Hall on the day we’ll remember it for an equally special wedding, that of Lauren & Tom. And I felt very honoured when they chose me to photograph their big day as Lauren’s dad Steve is my friend and fellow wedding photographer and I’d also had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Tom’s brother James to Ann-Marie back in 2016.
I joined Lauren and the girls in the marquee at the start of the day. My friend Kerry was busy doing make-up, Emma (maid of honour) was having her hair done and everyone else went about their jobs. Steve was sorting out the garden games while Beverley (mum) & Sarah (bridesmaid) were breaking things. Meanwhile my second (Nikki) met Tom and the boys at James’ house in Eye near Peterborough.
It was a beautiful day for a wedding. And that meant the couple could get married outdoors. Yay!! Lauren had thought of everything for the day. A string quartet played during various parts of the service. Afterwards there was an ice-cream man on hand to help everyone keep cool and Robert entertained everyone with his fabulous magic tricks.
After the wedding breakfast and some great speeches from Steve, Tom and James I took the newlyweds off for some pictures around the lakes. By now the evening sunlight was providing some beautiful light to work with.
Lauren & Tom’s wedding was a fantastic occasion with the nicest couple you could care to meet and a lovely group of guests. As I type this Lauren & Tom are in San Francisco eagerly waiting to see their pictures. So I’ll stop blathering on and let the pictures tell the story far better than I ever could…….
