On Saturday 2nd June I had the pleasure of shooting the wedding on Abbie and Brett at The Old Hall near Ely.
Abbie & Brett don’t do things by halves. This year has seen new jobs, moving home and there was the small matter of getting married! It was clear to me that they have the love and support of two wonderful families so I’m sure all these major events are just a walk in the park for them. Their wedding day was a lovely occasion. Always special for me when I start the day in my home town, with the service at the church I know best of all – St Peter & St Paul’s in Chatteris.
While I was with Abbie and the girls at Abbie’s parent’s house my second photographer, Vaida headed over to The Old Hall where Brett and the boys were getting ready. It was great service which included one of the most upbeat hymns I’ve ever heard at a wedding. In fact I’m not even sure it was a hymn. Afterwards it was out into the beautiful afternoon sunshine for confetti and pictures. Then the newlyweds headed off to the cemetery so Abbie could share her special day with her brothers Matthew & Mitchell.
The Old Hall hosted the rest of the celebrations. Such a great venue and one of my favourites. As usual I photographed most of the day in a journalistic style, snapping things as they happened, such as some great speeches from Abbie’s dad Mick, Brett and his best man Ross. As the sun started to set the couple joined me for some pictures around the grounds. By now the light was perfect, the low sun casting a soft warm glow all over the lakes and gardens. Perfect for pictures and well worth waiting for.
It was a huge honour to be a part of Abbie & Brett’s big day. At times deeply moving, at other times very funny, certainly never any doubt that the newlyweds are clearly two people that love each other very much. As I type this Abbie & Brett have just got back from honeymoon and I know they are excited to see the pictures. So I’ll stop waffling and let the pictures tell the story far better than I ever could. Wishing Abbie & Brett all the very best for the future as husband and wife……
